Hansi Gelter, biologist, nature guide, researcher

Hansi started Guide Natura in 2000 and owns the company. Hansi has a lifelong interst in nature, which started at age 11 with the youth organisation Fältbiologerna, and he become early interested in ornithology, botany and Friluftsliv (outdoor life). Already at age 14 he led his first canoing and mountain expeditions, and has since then led several mountainer expeditions in the Alps and Himalaya. Hansi holds a master degree in Biology and a PhD in evolutionary genetics from Uppsala University, has been a teacher in biology, environmrental and outdoor education at the teacher education in Luleå, and lately been head of the Experience production program at LTU, where he held a associate professorhip. His research interest lies in Friluftsliv and Ecotourism with several expeditions to Antarctica and the Arctic (Canada, Greenland, Svalbard, Arctic Russia). Hansi holds outdoor certificates as instructor in telemark and downhill skiing, cross-country scating, MTB, kayaking and mountain hiking leader. Hansi has worked as tourleader and nature guide for TEMA-resor with trekking in Austria, Madeira, Cyprus, Samos, Nepal and safaris in Tanzania. He is chaiman of Visit Piteå DMO and work as consult and teacher for the tourism industry. He has Austrian parents and thus love mountains, but is since 20 years now hooked on being on the sea, by kayak, boat, skates, skies or snowmobile.He is a keen nature photographer.  Sharing the greatness of nature is his life mission. 

Karin Sandström, nature & kayak guide

Karin has over 20 years experience as a high school teacher in french, english and swedish language, and speaks also spanish, italian, german and some chinese. Beside her teaching degree, Karin has certification trough the outdoor organisation Friluftsfrämjandet at a kayak instructor, ski instructor and cross county skating guide. In her younger days Karin was a scout and paddled canoe and some white water kayaking.
Karin holds also an outdoor leader degree from the Tourism sport education in Kiruna, and has worked in the Swedish mountains and loves to bring people into nature to both recreation and adventure. Lately she has lead several kayak tours for Friluftsfrämjandet in Luleå and took part in a kayak expedition to Greenland.
